The EuroCC-Italy National Competence Center is focused on providing training, news, events and more about technologies and knowledge in the HPC, HPDA and AI fields, offering an open service platform to facilitate access to:
- certified training material, online and on-site training programs,
- field work opportunities for young researchers and professionals;
- skills and support for innovation through HPC / HPDA / AI technologies and methodologies;
- proof of concept to assess the impact of technology on business and operations
- Computational resources
- technology transfer actions between academia and industry
EuroCC-Italy starts from constructive collaborations between industry and academia, and relies on gender equal spamming working groups on different generations, where people can express their knowledge, skills and creativity and make new ideas flourish from experience.
The open services platform through the EuroCC Italy National Competence Center is a scalable project, as it can be extended with the contribution of current partners and new members of the national HPC / AI / HPDA ecosystem.
Starting from the business needs of the sector, the competence centers offer their users the resources and skills to set up Proof of Concept in order to evaluate the effectiveness of an HPC-based solution.
The success stories resulting from the proof of concept results will help to support and raise awareness of the positive applications of HPC/HPDA/AI technologies to meet the needs of industry and people.
EuroCC-Italy is part of the EuroHPC Competence Centers Network, made up of thirty-three competence centers, one for each European country, which can exchange knowledge, experiences, use cases and success stories of the different applications. in the field of HPC / HPDA / AI.
The pillars of EuroCC-Italy are the skills and HPC infrastructures available in CINECA, including the Leonardo pre-exascale system; Big Data Association scientific network of Research Centers and Universities; BI-REX network with trade associations, and innovation services, to reach SMEs in the manufacturing sector; companies such as Eni, Dompé and Leonardo Company which have a long experience in the use and application of HPC, HPDA and AI, in their research and business processes, eager to support innovations in SMEs belonging to their supply chain, and to the green economy, a national and European ecosystem, through concrete application examples and needs.
EuroCC-Italy is an open project to be extended, in due course, to new partners belonging to the national HPC / AI / HPDA ecosystem.
The Italian National Competence Center, to start with the activities, received funds from the European High-Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (JU) under grant agreement No 951732. The JU received support from European funds allocated within the Horizon 2020 program , research and innovation area.
