The power of quantum computing for football

Thanks to the power of quantum computing, combined with the skills and data analysis of CINECA, the different hypotheses of formation of the Serie C Championship groups for the 2021/2022 season were analyzed and a north horizontal composition criterion was chosen. / center / south. The objective of the collaboration between Lega Pro and CINECA was to facilitate the movements of the Serie C football clubs, reducing the distances for away matches as much as possible, and thus containing costs.

The decision to give priority to the economic and financial sustainability of the system is linked to the effects of the pandemic, which also heavily affected the management of the costs of sports activities. The final decision, unanimously voted by the Lega Pro Board of Directors, is based on scientific analyzes by CINECA, with data and projections with respect to all the hypotheses under consideration: such as the vertical direction, of which an increase of approximately the 20% of the costs, the full draw for groups or the draw based on rankings.
